Residential garbage collection services
are provided weekly when the following
regulations are followed:
- Refuse
in a non-corrodible receptacle
having a tight fitting lid or
securely bundled in a leak proof
bag is to be placed at curb or
street edge by 7:00am on the
morning of collection. To find
out the scheduled pickup day in
your area, call 537-9545.
- No
receptacle or bag shall exceed 32
gallons or 50 pounds when filled.
Wet refuse must be drained of all
liquids and wrapped in paper
prior to being placed in
receptacle or leak proof bag.
Items too bulky for the
receptacle will not be collected
by the city. These items should
be taken to one of Putnam County
Landfill locations. Recyclable
items should be taken to the
recycling center located at 755
E. 21st Street in Cookeville.

- On
Holidays observed by the city
(See Below), residents are
notified by Herald-Citizen, WHUB
AM Radio and WHUB TV Channel 7 of
the modified schedule.
- Algood
Sanitation Workers ask that all
receptacles are routinely cleaned
and sanitized.
- Residents
will be notified by placement of
stickers on receptacles if they
do no adhere to regulations.
Commercial
Waste Collection services are provided to
businesses for a fee. The dumpsters may
be purchased or rented for
$40/month. Algood offers flexible
scheduling of pickup. Dumpster pickups
are $12 each. Applications for commercial
pickup are available at city hall.

When a legal holiday falls on
Saturday, offices will be closed the
preceding Friday. When a holiday
falls on Sunday, it shall be observed on
the following Monday.
If your trash pick
up falls on a holiday, your pick up will
be one day later.
