The Algood Fire Department is a
volunteer organization. We have about 22 citizens currently
working as volunteer firefighters. We work in conjunction with
the Putnam County Fire/EMT service to provide 24 hours a day 7
days a Fire Suppression week coverage for the residents of
Algood.
Fire Chief - Loyd Norris
Asst. Fire Chief - Victor Jones
Fire Suppression is not the only function of
this division, the firefighters are trained as First Responders, EMT's and
Paramedics. This training allows the fire department to respond to
medical emergencies and assist the Putnam County Ambulance Service in
providing quick responsible medical care in a timely manner. Automatic
External Defribillators are carried on the fire engines, which enables
advanced medical treatment in the field in cases of sudden heart stoppage.
Each member of the fire department is also trained in the use of rescue
equipment so, that in the event of a motor vehicle accident, access to the
pateint may be gained rapidly.
